What is Electrolysis?

Electrolysis is the only permanent method of hair removal recognized by the FDA for removing unwanted hair from the face

and/or body. Electrolysis is performed by a Licensed Electrologist who is trained to locate and destroy the growth center of the hair with chemical or heat energy using an epilation machine.

What areas can be treated and what are the side effects?

Most areas of the body can be treated with electrolysis, including the eyebrows, upper lip, chin, neck, abdomen, thighs, breast, underarms and legs. There are generally no permanent side effects, except for a temporary, slight reddening of the skin which may occur in the area after treatment. This slight irritation typically subsides within an hour, leaving the skin to heal uneventfully.

Why do women have hair growth?

Many women experience unwanted hair growth as a result of heredity, hormone levels, certain medications, systemic illnesses and temporary methods of hair removal. With so many factors that can influence hair growth, it’s not uncommon for most women to experience some form of unwanted hair growth in their lifetime.

How many treatments are involved?

Due to these many factors, a series of Electrolysis visits are required to attain permanent results. The total number of sessions needed to remove hair permanently from a particular area will vary from person to person with each session lasting between 15 minutes to one hour. Sharon will create a customized treatment plan based on your individual needs and goals.

Does it hurt?

Of course, a major concern about Electrolysis is the level of discomfort involved in receiving treatment. In most cases, the majority of people receiving a treatment for the first time are actually surprised that Electrolysis does not cause as much discomfort as they were expecting. For those clients who are very sensitive, a topical anesthetic cream may be used in some cases.
